Music Modernization Act

Updated: May 31, 2020

Just received this signed bill in the mail. This is a huge first step for the music community. The Music Modernization Act passed both houses unanimously. I was a very small part of this. The true major players in this all deserve congratulations and thanks. Neil Portnow, Daryl Friedman & Todd and his team, Darrell Brown, Booker T. Jones, Mike Clink, Peter Asher, Maureen Droney, Kevin Madigan, John Alagia, Sarah Bareilles, Jason Mraz, Graham Nash, Elton John, Aloe Blacc, Ed Cherney and too many other members of The Recording Academy, our music community, Congress and Senate, and the many, many people who worked so hard on this initiative.

Also thanks to one of our biggest (and most unexpected) champions, Republican Congressman Darrell Issa, who became an important ally to our cause.

There is still so much more to do… Stay tuned.

Great to see the Music Modernization Act getting recognition — its passage was a huge step for fair compensation in the streaming age. For music producers spending long hours on precise editing and mixing, having an accurate mouse setup makes a real difference. I recently used this online mouse analyzer tool to calibrate my DPI and polling rate, and it helped a lot with detailed waveform editing.

The Music Modernization Act is crucial for ensuring fair compensation for artists and songwriters in the streaming era. It's great to see discussions around such important topics, like how trees hate you.

Found this star wars name generator through a forum recommendation and ended up using one of the generated names for my Steam account. The fantasy/sci-fi balance is actually pretty solid.

Been trying out Nano Banana for AI image generation lately. You just describe what you want in plain text and it generates something — built on Gemini so the quality is decent. Handles a range of styles from realistic to anime. Useful for quick concept visuals without needing to set up anything locally.

Also especially meaningful is the extension of that's not my neighbor federal protections to pre‑1972 recordings via the “Classics” portion of the Act — a nod to history as well as forward momentum.
